Johnson & Pace Chosen for J-W Operating Building Project
To its clients, J-W Operating Company is a one-stop shop for energy-based business. The company offers oil and gas property management services, contract lease operations and engineering consulting services. That's why, when J-W Operating president Don Bizzell decided to construct the company's regional headquarters, he wanted a multi-faceted building that would merge all of J-W's talents under one roof.
Bizzell chose Longview, Texas, as the site of his company's headquarters and began searching for the ideal construction firm to take on his vision. Bizzell says several local builders referred him to Johnson & Pace, and after meeting with the architect Doug Camp, he knew he'd found a match. “We preferred to have the surveying and architecture services done by a single firm because that made it more convenient for us,” Bizzell says. “Johnson & Pace offers very personal service, and they helped us upgrade our image through the design for the new facilities.”
Camp, brings more than 20 years of corporate architectural experience to Johnson & Pace. “J-W had a clear vision for a modern structure that conveyed the company's professional image. From day one, J-W handed us a map of their property and told us to incorporate the headquarters with its corporate image,” Camp explains. Johnson & Pace was able to crystallize that idea and design the kind of building that fit the plan. To blend aesthetics and practicality, Camp paired a tilt-concrete structure with a glass rotunda - a combination that was a perfect fit for his client. Camp was excited about the design and said “J-W Operating wasn't really sure what to expect, but when they saw our work they said it was so much more than they ever expected. It was the best compliment I could have gotten.”
